Melissa West was born in Missouri but grew up in Georgia. Growing up in a creative family allowed her to follow her dream of working in the creative arts industry.
After visiting the Savannah College of Art and Design in middle school while her brother was attending the college, she knew that was the place for her. During her time at SCAD, she took multiple photography courses and completed several internships in multiples fields including, a visual merchandising internship at Anthropologie, an internship with the photography department at Turner Broadcasting, and a styling internship with a celebrity stylist in Los Angeles.
After graduating from SCAD in 2012, she ran a boutique in Atlanta, that sold women's apparel and accessories as well as home and garden. She did everything from managing the shop, buying for all departments, marketing, merchandising and her favorite part- finding, painting, and selling vintage furniture. She is a certified Annie Sloan Chalk Paint expert and has taught over 50 workshops.
Currently she is working at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she is a Career Adviser for the Schools of Fashion, Building Arts, and Liberal Arts. On top of working full time for SCAD, Melissa continues to use all her skills by doing freelance photography, digital marketing, and wardrobe styling. Plus, continuing to grow her skills by taking graphic design courses at SCAD.
On a personal note, she is completely in love with her Sphynx cat, Indilwen and also loves antique shopping, photography, calligraphy, interior decorating, painting furniture, watching way too much TV, and crafting all day, everyday.
